Investing in Yourself

Investing in Yourself

Are your dreams or visions worth investing in?  Why haven’t you done it yet? Oh, you have, but you didn’t do as well as you’d like. It’s okay, as long as you’re living you get a do-over.  Rethink your plan of action.

Have you ever tasted food from a friend or relative and thought, “OMG! This is better than….!” Are you that family member who everyone expects to cater a party or event? Have you ever considered starting a business, but don’t know how or where to turn? Look within yourself…..it’s all there.  Trust your inner strengths and acknowledge the strengths of others you may know as well.  Be realistic with yourself and your goals.  Begin by writing every thought, dream, aspiration, or consideration you may have in a notebook that you keep and refer to regularly (i.e. multiple times throughout the day).

Consider investing in your dreams or your passions. There is no magic pill to being in business for yourself.  Many business owners fail multiple times before finding their great success. Consider the likes of your favorite bread maker, realtor, seamstress, barber, car salesman, or model. Consider your favorite cookie or your favorite car, jeans, hat, sunglasses. All of these ventures started with a vision.

As the economic world changes with the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be time for you to reconsider your approach to your personal success. Invest in yourself! Take the initiative to work toward fulfilling your goal of being a business owner.  Don’t get caught up in the hype of locating the mystical government funding or grant. Take a leap of faith and put your money into yourself. Learn to budget and budget for what you can afford.  It may take paying off some debt before starting that new business but you have to make the effort.

Making the effort gives you much more pride in the ownership of your business. It also gives you equity to grow your business. Always be mindful of growing your business slowly until you have full grasp of the inner workings of each task associated with your company’s goals.

Start by developing your ideas into goals, making sure to goal-set each day. Seek mentors who are actively engaged with you and will give you corrective action steps to move your business forward. Don’t just go with the folks who agree with everything you say!  Keep pressing even if you have to do it alone.  It’ll make you wiser, stronger and more successful than you ever imagined.
